Governance

RRSS is a not-for-profit society with oversight by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 12 members. The Board exercises stewardship, vision, and policy direction for our society. Election to the Board takes place annually with many board members bringing professional experience from the fields of law, finance, and business. In keeping with our strong sense of community, we are pleased that many board members are also family members of our residents. An individual supported by RRSS also serves as a Director on our Board.

Resident Council

The Resident Council provides a forum for education, promotion, and self-advocacy for the individuals supported at RRSS. Involvement has nurtured confidence and a safe and welcoming space to ensure the voices of the individuals we support are heard. The Council is a platform for members to become informed about their rights as well as trends in best practices, reflect upon and offer feedback related to RRSS’s supports and services, and exercise their right to make decisions on matters that affect their lives. The Resident Council is led by an executive elected by the members and is supported administratively as required. The self-advocate sitting as a Director on the RRSS Board is also a member of the Resident Council and serves as a liaison reporting to the Board on Council activities. Any person receiving support from RRSS is welcome to become a member of Resident Council.
