Resident Life

Every day is a new opportunity

Individuals we support are often on the go (or very busy). From work and volunteering to attending community events or hitting the gym, we are here to support people in living as full and active a life as possible.  However, every moment has potential, so as staff we want to be present and supportive in providing individual supports, sitting to eat supper, or enjoying a TV show together as well!

Every day is a new opportunity for staff too!  No two days are the same and there is so much to learn and experience.

Every day is led by me

The opinions, suggestions, creativity, and ideas of the people we support are always valued at RRSS. Only by actively listening to the perspectives of the individuals we support can we understand what is of importance to them and ensure our delivery of service matches their wishes. Choice is control and individuals are actively encouraged to engage in self-advocacy and self-determination on a daily basis.

Every day is determined by the energy and attitude staff bring with them to work. We have the responsibility to create a positive climate when entering the homes of the people we support (our workplace) by being eager and ready to participate.

Every day is a learning experience

Individuals we support are the best educators.  They teach us how to offer individualized supports and also advocate and teach the communities around them that people with disabilities are people first. Staff help build on the skills needed to communicate and express this advocacy within their homes and community.

It is our responsibility to challenge thinking, learn more, and do better. In this busy, diverse world, RRSS is committed to this mandate.
